Silver Cadmium Oxide

MODICON offers complete range of Silver Cadmium Oxide (AgCdO) Contacts & Contact Materials in diverse forms manufactured by Powder Metallurgy (Co-Precipitation) as well as Internal Oxidation in form of wires or plates and further processed to rivets or punched parts to meet customer specific requirements.

To facilitate the final attachment of these contacts, MODICON can provide a thin layer of brazing alloy (as per customer requirement) on the brazable side of the tip.-

Powder Metallurgy (P.M) by MODICON: This material is produced by Co-Precipitation, Pressing, Sintering and Extrusion to the desired shape & size. Uniform distribution of very fine CdO particles in the Silver matrix is obtained. Silver backing as low as 0.1mm or as required is provided to facilitate brazing / welding. To minimize the consumption of Silver at the backing end, we have facility and capability to provide Copper or CuNi Layer.

We even produce AgCdO material having large grain size of CdO (50 ~ 60 μ) for special applications. Large particle size Cadmium Oxide is produced by special process and mixed with Silver powder and sintered billet is extruded to desired shapes & sizes. Silver backing as required is provided to facilitate brazing / welding.

Internal Oxidation (I/O) by MODICON: This material is produced by Internal Oxidation of Silver & Cadmium molten alloy. Under high temperature & pressure the oxygen diffuses and oxidizes the cadmium. CdO particles precipitate in the Silver matrix. Silver backing as required is provided to facilitate brazing / welding.

These contact materials have high resistance to contact welding and arc erosion with low contact resistance. These materials are mainly used for make - break cycles.

Application: Typically used for Relays, Switches, Contactors, Starters.
